CLEAR + BRILLIANT PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS
PRE-PROCEDURE
A topical numbing cream is applied prior to treatment. An antiviral may be given if there is a history of cold sores.
POST-PROCEDURE
Expect pinkness, and swelling (like a hive) for the first day. Bronzing and pinpoint specks may continue for up to a week on the face, two weeks on the neck and chest, and two to six weeks on arms and legs. Usually, there is no pain afterward.
- Moisturize frequently with Aquaphor or a mild moisturizer of your choice. Apply a cortisone to any areas that may be red.
- Avoid harsh soaps, brushes, or retinoids for at least one week after treatment.
- Cleanse the skin with gentle cleansers twice daily.
- Return to your normal routine after one week.
- Sunscreen. It is very important that you use sunscreen to prevent sun damage to the skin. Sunscreen should offer UVA and UVB protection and be SPF 30 or more. Once sloughing is complete, use sunscreen daily for at least 3 months after your last treatment. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going outside, and again, immediately before. Reapply every 2 hours. If direct sun exposure is necessary, wear a hat and clothing that will cover the treated area. Your practice of diligent sunscreen use may lower the risk of hyper pigmentation (darker color).
